Understanding the ancient migrations of peoples and the diffusion of technologies such as pottery, bronze and iron, as well as myth and symbols, into northeast Siberia and the Bering Strait is easier if you understand the regions of East Asia and Siberia. The same is true for distribution of ancient dog breeds. The Lake Baikal region was a center of early human cultures, for example, while major rivers such as the Amur and Lena were influential ancient travel corridors.
